Week 2-3ish in China

Well I finally have a little more internet access so I can start to get caught up on these uploads. Here's the next batch of pictures!

This is some fried rice I made. It's just tofu, eggs cabbage and onions, turned out really tasty, but not terribly healthy.

I was out walking around one day and found this Canal. Just to the left is the Macau border.

Photobucket

OMELETTES! This is a broccoli tofu and 'ham' omelette with fried potatoes on the side. Tastes kind of like home.

Photobucket

This is the border gate to Macau. Underneath is a humongous shopping center shaped like an octopus.

Photobucket

This is my best Chinese friend Gabriella and I on our way to a Halloween dance in Macau. For lack of a better costume, I was dressed as Michael Jackson.

Photobucket

Me having fun in front of the Venetian in Macau. It's an amazing sight in person.

Photobucket

The hotel is surrounded by a moat and I believe during the day you can take small row boats for a few bucks.

The inside of the Venetian. It all just shows how stupid gambling is... unless you own the casino. Gabriella tells me most Chinese people don't like the Venetian though because the name of the island it's on means 'going down' in Cantonese.

This is the mountain by my house. "Jin Zhong Hua Yuan" Or Golden Garden. I run to the top every other day. On Thursday I med some older people dancing on the top and chatted with them for a good 20 minutes or so. I repeated their names over and over when I ran down so I remember next time I see them. Lao Chen, Xiao Guo and Wu.

Photobucket

Last Sunday I went out exploring mountains with my friend Hank. This is on Shi Jing Shan, or Beautiful Stair Mountain as I've translated. This is my favorite mountain. They even have a little roller coaster that goes down the mountain and gondola type ski lifts going up for the lazy people.

Photobucket

At the top I bought a chocolate ice cream. It was chocolate with some really potent sesame seeds. There are few things more disappointing then bad ice cream. haha.

Photobucket

Hank the Tank and I. I met hank chatting in a gift shop with the workers. I think he's friends with the workers there. He's been studying english for a month so we've been helping each other out.

Northern Zhuhai

This is at the bottom of Shi Jing Shan, you can rent the paddle boats for like $1.50/hour.

Photobucket

This is Zhuhai's famous fisher girl statue. There's always people out there taking pictures of the fish girl.

Photobucket

This is a panoramic shot I made on the computer. I was just experimenting, but it worked so I hope to make some more!

Photobucket

This is the beach in central Zhuhai. It's called Haibin You Yong Chang. Basically translates to Seaside Swimming Area. Hank told me this was the best place to swim in Zhuhai.. but I'm going to play it safe.

Photobucket

Tables from one of the beach restaurants. It's only open at night.

Photobucket

We found this horse just laying in the sand. I really wanted to play with it. It was kind of sad just seeing him lie there.

Photobucket

We walked through a department store on our way to the next mountain and had to try out the massage chairs.

Photobucket

This is me getting my face blown off by a cannon inside a small museum in JiuZhou Cheng. It's the same place that I have a picture of in my first upload, looks like an old Chinese fort from the outside.

Raaaawrrr!

Statues

A lot of people haven't seen foreigners before. We kind of joined groups and walked the museum together. The guy from the group even videotaped our whole interaction because it was so strange to see a white person. They go to Zhuhai's Beijing Normal University campus. My goal for next week is to make it up to the Colleges and sit in on some classes.

Photobucket

Here is another park in Zhuhai. I forget the name, but this one was beautiful too.

Photobucket

It has a small lake in it. Lots of people fish in the lake in the morning.

Photobucket

This is me dancing with the natives... or trying to anyways. I see a lot of groups dancing in China.

Photobucket

This sculpture is in the middle of a pond deep in the park. Pretty cool.

Photobucket

Me being a monkey at the top of the mountain.

Photobucket

Photobucket

There's a whole area of this mountain with small Bhudda temples in it.

Photobucket

More chinese people that hadn't seen a white person before.

Photobucket

The grass out of the park. Hank and I tried doing some gymnastics for about 20 minutes before heading out.
